It has been made popular by Simon Sinek\u2019s book \u2018Start with Why\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his book \u2018Start with Why\u2019, Simon Sinek explains the importance of understanding the purpose behind your business as ultimately that is why people buy from you. With a strong WHY you will be able to decide whether the next big idea will move your business in the right direction and fit with its overall purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How does remembering your \u2018why\u2019 help with developing a strategy and plan?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your \u2018why\u2019 determines your reason for doing what you do.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your \u2018why\u2019 provides a reason for choosing the goals and outcomes you want to achieve.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your \u2018why\u2019 provides purpose for your actions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It is very important to get clarity on the \u2018why\u2019 issue. For example, someone may say I want to earn $500,000 this year. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having that as a primary goal but a goal of that type will always be a surrogate for a higher level goal that\u2019s reflected in its \u2018why\u2019 or \u2018whys\u2019 such as \u2026 \u201cBecause that will mean I can be certain of being able to pay off my mortgage within 3 years and retire from full time work within 10 years\u201d or \u201cIt will guarantee that I can help my children complete college without worrying about money\u201d or \u201cIt will confirm for me that I have the ability to take on a challenge of doubling my earning capacity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The underlying \u2018why\u2019 is what gets you up in the morning.
